Before continuing, let me say a few words about whitespace. In virtually all cases, superfluous whitespace in command strings has been deleted. For example, objects inserted with insertObject (a sizable portion of latex.tcl's functionality) do not routinely insert a trailing space character. Instead, the user must decide whether or not space should immediately follow a particular LaTeX control word, since sometimes it's needed and sometimes it's not. Setting indentOnCR in the Flags dialog (on the Global submenu of the Config menu) to false also prevents a lot of extraneous whitespace from being inserted into your document...but then it won't look so good!
